This fanfic never had an official name. I also don't think I ever published it anywhere xD;; It's probably a good thing because it's very MarySuey! I think I was going to end it with me being zapped into the game to act as a Sage (in the end battle) xD;; But it was fun to write - and who wouldn't want to experience the land of Hyrule?? I mean, come on, who hasn't wanted to write a fanfic where they get sucked into their favorite game... >____> xD It was unfinished, and it's going to stay that way :)

Chapter 1
The Girl Without a Fairy
Chapter 2
The Shadow in the Well

Chapter One - The Girl Without a Fairy

"No, Link!" cried the voice of a girl.

"Target the one to the left, the left!!"

But he failed to hear her and the irritating beeping came to an end as he fell to his knees and then fell forward.

"Come on, Link!" yelled Jessi again as she pounded on the start button to get the game going again. "Anyone could do it better than you! Heck, if I was in there, I wouldn't even give it a chance to spot me, I'd be on it before it knew what was..."

The TV turned an odd shade of purple and started making an eerie sound. "Come on you stupid machine! Don't quit on me now!" Jessi smacked her hand against her Nintendo 64 and pressed the reset button numerous times but nothing happened.

She reached up to change the channel but the TV remained blank. "Aw man! The whole thing is busted! Mom's gonna kill me!"

The light on the TV began to throb and Jessi jumped back. Her eyes widened. "What's happening?" The light continued to grow until it was unbearable and then finally turned into a solid black. The entire room fell dark.

Jessi slowly sat up and rubbed her head. It seemed like the TV had exploded because she was lying on her back and her head was spinning.

Suddenly she realized she could hear the sweet melody of Saria's Song. 'I got it working again!' she thought. 'Thank goodness!'

She slowly opened her eyes and blinked a couple of times but what she saw was not what she expected...

'Where am I?' she looked around. There was a giant log on each side of her. They were big enough to walk through and the music could be heard in the distance. To the right of her was a little bush with some beetles under it.

'Oh no.' she thought to herself as she looked down at her attire. She was wearing a sleeveless green shirt and a green skirt with a green belt. She had on boots that came up almost to her knees. 'I'm dressed like a Kokiri!' She thought. 'Great, I'm seeing things.'

She stood up slowly and balanced herself by grabbing onto a wall. All of the sudden a fairy flew up to her and started circling around her.

"Hey there" Jessi said to the fairy. "What's your name?"

The fairy stopped circling her and flew over to a man standing across the way staring at Jessi. He was wearing the traditional Kokiri tunic, Kokiri boots, and he had a sheath and quiver on his back. In his hands were a sword and a Hylian shield.

Jessi took a step backwards. "Don't be afraid." he said. "I'm just on my way back to the Kokiri Forest. I didn't mean to startle you."

"Link?" she asked. "Is that really you?"

Link looked confused. "Who else would it be?"

'I must have hit my head harder than I thought.' thought Jessi. 'That's the last time I play video games for more than 5 hours!'

"How odd." Link pondered out loud.

"What?" asked Jessi.

"You're wearing that of a Kokiri, but you're so tall!" he observed.

"I guess I am." said Jessi as she looked down at what she was wearing again.

"Where is your fairy?"

"My fairy? Oh yeah, my fairy... I don't have one."

With that Navi came swirling around again.

"How can you be a Kokiri if you don't have a fairy!?" she asked in astonishment.

"I don't really know." Jessi said as she looked at the ground.

"Wait a second." Navi said again. "You heard me!?"

"Yeah." Jessi looked confused. "Why wouldn't I?"

Navi looked at Link, "Link, Kokiri can only hear their own fairies. You and I can commute because you are not a Kokiri and the Great Deku Tree gave you that gift. The only human that should be able to hear what I say is you."

Link looked at Jessi suspiciously. "Who are you, where did you come from, and how do you know my name."

"I don't know if I can explain that all to you." Jessi said. "I don't know how I got here, who brought me here, why I'm dressed like a Kokiri, or why I can speak to Navi."

Navi looked at Link, "It must be one of Ganondorf's doings."

Link scowled, "Why that... He's done nothing but make this quest harder for me!"

Jessi looked at Navi, "You think Ganondorf brought me here?"

"What else is reasonable?" asked Navi. "It's the only logical explanation."

"Well what am I supposed to do?" asked Jessi desperately. "I don't have anywhere to go or anyone to stay with."

"We'd better keep her with us, Navi." said Link. "She must be of importance if Ganondorf brought her here."

"Hey mister!" said Jessi. "One thing you'd better get straight, I am a person, a human being, and you are going to treat me like one!"

Link rolled his eyes and smiled. "I like your attitude. You can tag along on one condition."

"What's that?" Jessi asked.

He tossed a Kokiri sword at her. "Hold your own."

They walked along in the lost woods talking and chatting like old friends. Link found it weird that Jessi knew everything about him, but he also found it beneficial to have someone he could talk to. Navi was more of a business type and Jessi seemed more like a listener.

"When we get to the forest, I'll purchase you a shield. You'll have to use the little one for now and we'll upgrade it to a Hylian one like mine later."

"Yes, sir." Jessi said jokingly.

They arrived at the Kokiri Forest just before nightfall so the shop was still open. When they walked in, a Kokiri girl was talking with the shopkeeper. They immediately stopped talking to greet Link and then to stare at Jessi.

"Who's that, Link?" asked the girl. "She doesn't look like a Kokiri."

"That's because I'm not." said Jessi as she stepped forward and tried not to hit her head on the ceiling. "I'm Jessi, a friend of Link's."

"Any friend of Link's is a friend of ours." said the shop owner. "Nice to meet you, Jessi."

Jessi bent down to shake his hand and then the girl's.

"Hey, I came here to pick up another shield." said Link. "How much are they?"

"What's the matter, Link? Didja burn your last one again?"

"No." Link smiled. "I'm picking one up for Jessi. She's going to join me on the rest of my quest."

"Really?" said the girl. "That's so interesting!"

"Here," said the shopkeeper. "I'll give it to you for free."

"Wow!" said Jessi, "Thanks!"

"We don't get much business anymore, now that Ganondorf's taken over."

"You won't have to worry about that for much longer." said Link. "I just freed the people over in Zora's Domain. I'm on my way back to Kakariko village and then onto wherever from there."

"Well, good luck." said the girl. "I want everything to go back to being the way it was before Ganondorf came and tried to ruin everything."

"So do I," said Navi although no one heard her, "So do I."

Chapter Two - The Shadow in the Well

They left the Forest and headed for Hyrule field. By now it was dark out and extremely scary.

"What are we going to do now, Link?" asked Jessi as she looked around nervously.

"We're going to Kakariko Village. Why?" He didn't wait for an answer, he just got out his Ocarina of Time and poised it to play.

"Wait!" said Jessi. "Before you summon Epona, will you play the Sun's Song? The darkness really freaks me out."

Both Navi and Link looked at her with bewilderment.

She looked from one to the other. "What?" she asked in utter confusion.

"Never mind." said Link as he played the Sun's Song to make it morning.

"Thanks." said Jessi with a sigh of relief.

Then he played another melody and a far off whinny was heard. Over the horizon came a beautiful horse galloping towards Link with a skip in its step.

"Hey Epona!" yelled Link as he waved for his horse.

She ran up with glee and he rubbed her nose.

Then he hopped on to her and looked down at Jessi. "It will be a lot faster if we ride Epona over there." He said, "Come on, hop up."

Jessi looked up at him and then down at the ground. "No thanks, I'll walk."

"You've never ridden a horse before, have you?" asked Link with a teasing smile on his face.

"Is it that obvious?" Jessi winced.

"Come on, I'll help you up." He reached his hand down for her to grab. As soon as she took his hand, he hoisted her onto the horse without and problem.

With that Link cried "Yah" and they were on their way. "Hold on tight." He told Jessi, "Epona can get going fast when she wants to."

Jessi, of course, didn't hear him. Her arms were around his waist and her eyes and mouth were clenched shut. When they finally arrived to the stairway leading to the Kakariko village, Link hopped down and helped Jessi down.

"See, that wasn't that bad, was it?" he smiled.

"Define bad." Jessi mumbled silently as she rolled her head around to pop her neck.

"Come on, let's go." said Link as he started up the stairs.

"Wait up, Link!" yelled Jessi as she chased up the stairs after him. "Why are you always in such a hurry?"

"I'm a hero twenty-four hours a day." he said in an unfamiliar tone, "I don't have time to slack off. I'm Hyrule's only hope."

Jessi frowned a sympathetic frown and followed him slowly. Link continued ahead and Jessi stopped to sit down for a while.

'Poor Link.' She thought. 'He's right; he doesn't have much of a choice but to save Hyrule. I feel sorry for him, I wonder if his life will ever be normal.'

Just then Jessi heard a female's scream. She turned quickly. It had come from the direction of the Kakariko Village. Jessi didn't stop to think and ran up the stairs as fast as she could to see what was happening.

When she got there, a man in odd clothing was bent over Link who was lying on the ground. Jessi walked up slowly behind the man so she wouldn't be detected.

"He's unconscious." said the man.

Jessi walked around in front of the man and looked at him closely. "How'd you know I was there?"

"I heard your footsteps." He said and then his red eyes looked up for the first time to look her in the eyes. "You must be Jessi."

Jessi blinked a couple of times and then responded "Yes, and you're Sheik, right?"

He laughed heartily and then looked at her again "What I've heard about you is true."

"What have you heard?" asked Jessi defensively.

"Oh, nothing much." said Sheik with a shrug. "Just enough to fulfill me for now. You see, I know everything that happens in the land of Hyrule."

"So how come you aren't helping Link fight and save us all?"

"I am, Jessi." He replied. "In a way that you will never understand, I am."

Jessi looked down at Link's unconscious body "Do I want to know what happened here?"

Sheik looked sad and looked at Link as well. "The shadow monster escaped from the bottom of the well." He explained. "Link tried to protect me and he got hit instead. The Sage of the Shadow Temple, Impa is there now trying to do something about it."

Jessis mind raced back to when Link was in the castle and the weird looking lady with the bad clothes had helped her out of the palace and taught her Zelda's Lullaby. 'Was that Impa?' she thought. 'I guess I'll find out sooner or later.'

Just then Link started to stir. Jessi stepped back as Link sat up.

"You were out for a long time." said Sheik as he explained the shadow more in depth for Link to hear. Jessi found this boring because she had already heard it so she started to tour the town.

'It looks so different in real life!' she noticed as she headed over to the well. She stopped to look down and Navi flew over by her.

"Hey!" Navi said in a warning tone.

Link was on his feet in a split second and he yelled "Jessi, get away from there!"

But it was too late. The shadow monster emerged from the well with a roar as it towered overhead. Jessi was frozen in fear and she just gaped at the giant dark cloud. Her mouth fell open to scream but nothing came out. The shadow grabbed her like a giant arm and she dropped her sword.

She quickly put her arms to her neck to ease the monster's grasp but it was too tight. "I... can't... breathe!" She gasped. Link poised his bow and arrow and shot but the arrow went right through it. "Help!" Jessi gasped again as the monster dove into the well taking Jessi with it.

"Jessi!" Link ran over to the well and looked down. All that was left was darkness. Link turned around to look for Sheik, but he had already left. "Navi, what do we do?" He asked in desperation, "The shadow has her and the bottom of the well is blocked off!"

"Calm down, Link!" said Navi. "Jessi is a strong girl, she can take care of herself. As for now the only thing you can do is go in that temple and beat the shadow out of it. You just learned the Nocturne of Shadow, right?"

"Yeah."

"Well, the sooner we get to it, the sooner we can get Jessi back!"

"You're right, as usual." Link tried to smile at his friend. "I just can't help thinking there's more to her than we're seeing."

"We'll have to find out later. We aren't saving her by standing here talking!"

Jessi rubbed her neck where the monster had grabbed her. Although it was a cloud, it still had a fierce grip.

"Ouch!" she said out loud. The monster's grip had been so unbearable she had passed out and awoke in a dungeon in the bottom of the well.

It was cold and murky and she could hear a skulltula somewhere near her. "This is just great!" She said as she leaned against the damp wall. "Now what am I supposed to do, rot to death?"

She had already checked and there was no way out of the small caged room.

She figured the best thing to do would be to wait for Link.
